Cloth Paper Scissors is a magazine that was first released in October 2004 and is published 6 times a year by Interweave Press. It is published by Quilting Arts Llc. As of today, it has released 19 issues, which includes 18 regular issues and one special edition. It features all types of fiber arts, collage work, mixed media, assemblage, altered books, art dolls, visual art journal, rubber stamping, book arts and creative embroidery. Mixed media, artistic discovery and collage are the latest topics featured in the May/June 2008 issue. It is ideal reference for beginners as well as advanced crafters. It has a lighthearted affirmative tone which motivates crafters to explore new techniques and share their work and expertise. Every issue includes workshop and marketplace sections.
The magazine includes basic techniques on glazing, paper sewing and showcases extreme creativity of mixed media projects. It also presents reviews of popular art products, studio peaks, lives of artist and reader’s letters. In one 2008 special issue, which was titled “Studios”, some of the studio peaks were those of Charlotte Lyon, Jane Davila, Pam RuBert, Mary Fisher, Sara Lechner, Jane Wynn and Beryl Taylor’s. In the same special issue, it also highlighted the Wrapped & Ready Project & Fanciful Collage Aprons. It also contains challenges for the readers or crafters. The winners are posted in the succeeding magazine issues. Cloth Paper Scissors features projects that use top quality paper as materials.
