Glue is a sticky compound that binds and ties things jointly. Sumerian people way back 6000 years, uses natural gums and plant resins or saps like birch bark for their ceramics. The first glue factory was founded in early 1700s. Till now we consider glues improving flexibility, hardiness, curing rate, temperature and chemical resistance factors.
Glues have some numerous types. Here are some of it:
1. cyanoacrylates, - it is toxic instant glue that bonds non porous materials. 2. craft glue - binds colorful foam craft sheets and even fabric, paper, plastic and wood 3. glitter glue - attributes bright colors and glitter which usually presented in a squeeze bottle or pen dispenser. 4. glue dots and lines; - it binds in a 3 dimensional effect. It is comparable to correction typing tape. 5. glue stick - sold in lip balm like dispenser or glue pen which has whitish and clear features and some are sold acid free. 6.hot glue - includes solid sticks and is heated thru a hot glue gun with high and low temperature, 7. powdered glue - stored in powder form that requires water to control the thickness. 8. royal icing - a kind of glue that is edible for kitchen crafts that needs to combine sugar, cream of tartar and egg whites to be formed. 9. sticker glue - is the all purpose glue, a non toxic that comes in different colors; it dries to create a sticker for windows and refrigerators. 10. wallpaper paste, - used in papier mache and mixed with water. 11. white glue - also known as the clear drying glue which is useful for porous and non porous materials. The last type is the wood glue, water based glue used to bind wood.
FINISH
Finish is the surface treatment or texture of paper applied. There are general types of paper finishes
1. Wove finish - for general printing and has standard smooth even surface. 2. Smooth finish - very smooth and seen in copy papers. 3. Bond finish - used in high grade papers with 25 to 100% rag content. 4. Vellum finish - smooth to naked eye but has slight roughness. 5. Embossed finish - has a molded in appearance with patterned texture in a glossy coated paper. 6. Linen - a classic resemblance of a linen cloth. 7. Laid - also classically presented with fine lines in long and short directions of the paper length. 8. Felt finish - which resembles felt or the fairly noticeable to deep finish. 9. Parchment finish - an old antique appearance. 10. Cockle finish - which is a handmade and usually air dried. 11. Metallic type - It is coated with thin metal or plastic film. 12. Coated finish - which can be coated on one side or two sides to give better appearance. 13. Cast coated - is another which is super flat with ultra smooth and very glossy paper. 14. Translucent - likened to acetate, a thin paper although there are some with vellum finish.
